A waste transfer station is a specialised unit that receives domestic and commercial waste. Here at Cardiff & Caerphilly Skips, we have an on-site waste transfer station. The purpose of the facility is to sort and store materials before they are moved onto larger sites for disposal or treatment. Waste is tipped onto large concrete floors and then any large items that can be recycled are removed.
The remaining waste is sorted into categories for waste that can be recycled. Sorting of waste prevents unnecessary amounts of recyclable waste being sent to landfill. Therefore, our waste transfer station reduces the impact on the environment.
At Cardiff & Caerphilly Skips we have our own waste transfer station on-site. Our waste transfer station is permitted to work with a large variety of waste, including both general waste and hazardous waste.
Furthermore, all materials are dealt with by fully qualified staff. As a result, at Cardiff & Caerphilly Skips, our team is fully trained in the waste transfer process.
Skip trucks bring waste into the transfer station and the waste is unloaded into sorting bays. The waste is then pre-screened and sortied. Inappropriate items found within loads are removed and recycled or disposed of appropriately. Finally, once all the waste is sorted, recyclables are sent to be processed and non- recyclable waste is disposed of accordingly.
The waste transfer station, here at Cardiff & Caerphilly Skips is a highly important aspect of our business. Our waste transfer station enables us to be as environmentally friendly as possible. As a result, we fulfil the duty of effective waste sorting of a huge variety of materials.
Our output of recyclable materials is maximised through the effective use of our waste transfer station. Here at Cardiff & Caerphilly Skips, we endeavour to recycle as much waste as we possibly can, as a result, we reduce the community’s impact on the environment.
While continuously trying to improve the impact our waste transfer station has on the environment, we also ensure that we comply with all government guidelines. As such, we ensure all permits are up to date and that staff are trained to the appropriate standards.
In addition, we complete regular emissions reports and make sure we monitor these constantly. For us, nothing is as important as the health and well-being of people and the environment.
